State Identification/REAL ID/Driver Licenses

Here are the documents you will need to obtain an identification card:

Keep in Mind: 

• If you are seeking a New Mexico ID, you will be provided a temporary document immediately. The state can take up to 45 days to issue the formal document.
• If you are not able to provide residency status applying for the non-compliant card will be offered.
• If you do not have a valid New Mexico driver’s license, fingerprints may be required.

TO OBTAIN A REAL ID CARD, THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE REQUIRED:

• One (1) proof of identity
• One (1) proof of federal identification number (SSN)
• Two (2) proofs of New Mexico Residency
• List of helpful document see list below.

FOR A DRIVER AUTHORIZATION CARD (DAC) OR A NON-COMPLIANT ID, THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS WILL BE REQUIRED:

• One (1) proof of identity and age
• Two (2) proofs of New Mexico Residency
